The freshy renovated Bambini Early Chidhood Development Centres at Capalaba and Coombabah had a number of walls ideal for murals. I got busy creating several brightly coloured feature murals to complement the new look modern centres. Here’s a snapshot of some of the artworks.
I had a fantastic time in the role of Artist in Residence at Calvary Christian College. Arts students participated in one or more of seven workshops creating individual and group works on canvas for the schools Arts Fest Exhibition. Aerograffix showcased aerosol art and stencil techniques during three demonstrations and completed a music block mural to ensure Arts Fest was a very productive week.
Fresh from another project in Emerald I have again had a very productive and enjoyable time. This most recent project spread Aerograffix with a number of agencies completing murals and workshops at the skatepark, PCYC, Community Solutions, Anglicare Office and banners to celebrate Disability Action Week. It was great to work with some very talented young artists and continue to strenghten partnerships within the community. The number of canvasses and murals produced over the eleven day project was incredible showing demand for the school holiday arts workshops was strong. A big thanks to Anglicare for the opportunity to return to Emerald, also Central Highlands Regional Council and PCYC for supporting the project.

As a ratepayer and professional aerosol artist I find it disturbing to hear how much money is being wasted on graffiti removal. Rapid removal has had little impact on incidence of graffiti as during recent decades graffiti vandalism has only increased coinciding with the amount of money spent on removal has increased. Redland City Council has ignored its own policy to engage local artists where as other councils have a more pro-active approach to youth and graffiti issues. Brightly coloured signs will not solve this issue and only bring focus to the lack of a holistic approach.

After ten years of service the time came to retire the old IN-SYNC Youth Service sign at Cleveland and replace it with something fresh.
Mt Cotton State School sadly lost a valued teacher to cancer last year. Butterflies, gingham and purple are themed throughout a garden in memory of Teresa Peters (Jones).
