Roma

I had a great time in Roma, Queensland painting the ceilings at the Life Flight base, Roma Airport. The brand new facility will operate as a visitor centre and base for operations out of the hanger. A big thanks to Brandi Projects for the opportunity to be involved.

Whilst in the area I took on a small commission in the CBD for the lovely folk at Golders Mensland Roma is home of the bottle tree and numerous historical buildings and Golders is one of them. I was given the chance to paint something site specific. I drew inspiration from the flora and fauna in the vicinity and the concept responds to the immediate surrounds whilst skewing notions of time and place. The juxtaposition of modern street furniture (that’s manufactured not far from my studio) and ornate historic architecture reminds of the diversity and evolution in the natural world as bottle trees rise from a concrete jungle.

Burringbar

I whipped up a sign for an event on Saturday the 2nd December at Burringbar Uniting Church. Support your local community if you’re in the area.

Peak Crossing

It was great to return to the traditional lands of the Mununjali, Wangerriburra and Ugarapul Peoples. For this project design options were developed and the school students picked the winner to be applied on a large wall at Peak Crossing State School. The winning concept entails of the iconic Peak Crossing landscape including Flinders Peak, Ivorys Rock and some local animals. I always enjoy the painting process, hearing the kookaburras laughing while I was painting their images was a joy. A big thanks to the P&C team for making this project come to fruition.

Guluguba

I enjoyed my time at Guluguba State School where I painted local flora, fauna and historical elements. The place name is an indigenous word from the Iman people meaning squatters pigeon, a threatened species.

The rough texture of the surface made it challenging however I’m really satisfied with the detail packed in to this one.

Muttaburra

It was great to be back in the Burra, Muttaburra the Centre of Queensland and home of the Muttaburrasaurus. This visit I worked with the local Rural Fire Service and applied a mural on their station roller door. The artwork turned out great and I just wish I could have stayed longer as theres plenty more public art in the pipeline so I’m very much looking forward to returning soon.

Blackall

It was great to be back in Blackall. This time I was kept busy painting local facilities prior to the upcoming Better In Blackall Festival. I took on a challenging design considering the rough bricks but really satisfied with the result and copious amounts of positive feedback offered from locals and travellers. It was made possible by the support of the RADF, Flying Arts Alliance, Blackall Tambo Regional Council and with the assistance of Lucy Ann Artistry and a bunch of locals.

Toowong

It was great to connect with St Ignatius Toowong and complete a mural in conjunction with the schools 120 year celebrations. The design incorporates the old and the new with the school steeped in history and now nestled amongst the modern cityscape.

Coalstoun Lakes

It was a pleasure to return to Coalstoun Lakes State School. I completed a number of murals at the school in 2014 with a previous principal. Thanks to school staff and students for making me again feel welcome, I thoroughly enjoyed the project and it’s great to see a school develop a set of values unique to the local community.

Harrisville

Was great to complete this fun little job in Harrisville, nestled within the Scenic Rim area. I had a super tight timeframe to apply the mural in-between travel schedules however it was nice to see the owner wrapped with the result and experience another beautiful rural location.

Mulgowie

I was contacted by the Mulgowie Community Hall Committee to apply a mural on a new water tank. The brief was for the design to reflect the local surrounds, farming and arts & Culture. There was no shortage of inspiration as Mulgowie is situated amongst a scenic rural location in the Lockyer Valley and is host to many great events.
