Back in 2010 I was contracted to paint several large scale murals in Richlands in conjuction with the opening of the Darra to Springfield Transport Network. This one was themed Night & Day and stretches 87m of the motorway and bicycle paths. I was recently provided the opportunity to carry out some re-juvenations, maintenance and additions with thanks to RoadTek Department of Transport and Main Roads for making it happen.
In August I was contracted to paint this 90 metre long mural at the brand new Richlands station. Following substantial community consultation it was decided the theme would be a “Celebration of Local Community and Culture”. The mural took several weeks to apply, approximately 30 metres of masking tape, hundreds of aerosol cans and about one hundred litres of acrylic paint. The design incorporated content from concepts submitted by students and included images of community gardening, early farming, historical buildings, industrial collages and indigenous markings.

For the past three months I have been busy planing, designing and painting several large walls in Richlands in association with the Horizon Alliance. This project is about providing an opportunity for community participation by allowing students and young people in the area to participate in the design and painting of murals as facilitated by Aerograffix. This 70 metre long mural took place at the freshly constructed shared access path wall at The Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor project. Here the Horizon Alliance are duplicating the Centenary Highway and building a new railway station at Richlands. There will be more photos to come in the near future from this exciting project which has allowed me to experience working in the construction industry.
