Regents Park

After completing a staircase, uniform shop & tuckshop in recent years I returned to Regents Park State School. This time I painted a couple of undercover play area walls. The design features Wajin who is the schools Platypus mascot and the STAR values.

Bundamba

The Bundamba State School Library suffered some storm damage and as I understand had been closed for some time. It has since been repaired and remodelled with all new carpet, furnishings, air con etc. My expertise was called upon to create a mural on the main feature wall. The principal had been following my work for many years and was thrilled to finally have the opportunity to engage my services. I am honoured to be a part of the libraries transformation and contribute to comfortable learning space for the students.

I wasn’t keen on relying heavily on other peoples artwork for reference but found it to be an impossible challenge to reflect popular children books without having too much likeness to the originals. I hope I have done the various illustrators, artists and authors of these classic stories justice. Credits go out to Marc McBride, Mary GrandPre, Quinten Blake, Eric Carle, Dav Pilke, Martin Handford, P.D.Eastman and Marcus Pfister.

Oxenford

It was great to complete another mural at Oxenford State School. The top oval mural took on a few incarnations throughout the design process. We explored several concepts that combined the text based elements of the 3 sports house and pictorial content. The finished artwork compliments the established eucalypts, flora and fauna around the school grounds and should make for great backdrop for sports day photos. The mural was made possible by Oxenford State School P&C Association.

Waterford West

It was great to kick off the new year with a mural at Waterford West State School. I was contacted by the schools P&C committee to work some magic with the Tuckshop and Uniform Shop which were well overdue for a coat of paint. I worked to a fairly specific brief which gave me a good guide for the concept and design of the artwork which includes some of the tuck shops signature dishes.

Yamanto

It was great to complete murals at Amberley District State School recently. I was met by a real good bunch of students and staff who's energy and positivity is second to none. It was also great to again be in the position where I have worked on numerous projects with the principal at their previous posting.

There's more art in the pipeline so it will be great to continue splashing some more paint around. keep tuned for fresh work in the near future.

Coomera

After relentless wet weather I was finally able to complete this mural at Highland Reserve State School in Upper Coomera. It was great to see students inspired by the painting process and thanks to staff and tuckshop volunteers for making me feel welcome.

Emerald

I kept busy during the school Holidays with murals at Denison State School who had hosted a competition to rename the tuckshop. Deno Snack Shack was the chosen name accompanied with cartoon fruit & veg and Australian animals. I was also set the task to apply a mural the student leaders had designed. A big thanks to the P&C for making this transformation happen.

Making the most of school holidays I returned to Emerald North State School and added another artwork at the school entrance. I really enjoyed applying the abstract design, it was challenging but satisfying and I am super keen to do more of this style of art on large scale sites.

I completed a demo for the grand opening of Headspace Emerald thanks to Anglicare CQ who I have worked with since 2004.

I also applied a fresh piece at Emerald BMX. It had been almost 6 months since my last graffiti piece, the longest break in 28 years. It was great to be back in sunny Queensland to dust off the cobwebs and and gain more function recovering from injury.

Robina

It was great to return to Robina State School and reconnect. I recall painting a mural with students in the early 2000’s as a part of a Gold Coast City Council Youth Arts project. The sports houses mural was completed in 2012 and the Robina Champions in 2016. This time around I was assigned the Tuckshop. I enjoyed the combination of sign painting and mural work which complemented the surrounds.

Regents Park

After completing murals at Regents Park State School’s Tuckshop and Uniform Shop earlier this year I recently returned for Book Week. It was a challenge painting the pavement and staircase but the result was well worthwhile. The 10 book titles were voted by the students and it was interesting to note a few classics in there I was familiar with as a youngster.
