Birkdale South State School

At Birkdale South State School I created a mural with the assistance of the Safety House Committee. The text and the characters promote the school’s safety message while still appealing to the students. 

Brisbane Bayside State College

On Midwinter, I visited Brisbane Bayside State College to facilitate an introductory level workshop for the senior art class and explained the finer points of stencil and aerosol art. We had a five metre wall to work with and in the time frame of a day, we developed a concept, planned a design and applied it to the wall. The students now have a sense of ownership over the space as they chose the wording and concept. Miss Miles was great to work with and I hope the students continually Dare to be Wise. 

Redbank Plains State School

On Saturday the 16th of June Redbank Plains State School had a working bee where volunteers painted the school and I created a mural on a seven metre wall. The theme of Safe Respectful Learner  was based on the school values.

It was great to return to Redbank Plains State School and complete another mural. I had a very busy day getting the welcome mural painted but had a great response from students, staff and community stakeholders. I also feel privelaged to apply the animal totems endoresed by traditional owners.

Birkdale State School

For the past week I have been working at Birkdale State School, where I have had the pleasure of painting murals on the undercover areas of the school. The principal was great to work with and allowed me create artworks which I am really happy with. There were two murals, one which was a beach theme and the other incorporated the school’s motto ‘Always Our Best’. Whilst painting, I was asked a myriad of questions from curious students and it was great to be received so well by the school. I am looking forward to visiting again soon.   

Serviceton South State School

Last week I spent five days at Serviceton South State School, where I painted four walls which were used to express a Celebration of Diversity and Culture. Each section has a different culture in relation to the theme and I had fun learning new ways to say ‘welcome’. This mural is on of many different creations I have had the pleasure of painting for the school. Looking foward to working there again in the future and munching more of the tasty sandwiches from the tuckshop. 

Memorial Garden

A memorial graden was created at Coolwynpin State School for a student who sadly passed away this year. A colourful tribute was created to compliment the garden with some of the student’s favourite things in mind.

Moreton Bay Boys' College

It was a great opportunity to carry out this mural on behalf of students at Moreton Bay Boys’ College. The Seniors of 2011 completed the school journey and gave a gift to the school that will last for many years to come.

Carole Park Cats

After completing several murals in 2004/05 it was great to return to Carole Park State School. Students have recently adopted the cat as a mascot. Caring, courageous and committed cats have many great attributes.

Woodcrest Junior College

Based on a students design this recent mural at Woodcrest Junior College reflects the schools values. It was great to brighten up the undercover play area and recieve fantastic comments from students, staff and parents. Based on this feedback I think we achieved the brief of making school values appealing to the target audience.

Serviceton South SS

I had a top time creating this lorikeet themed mural at Serviceton South State School.
