Oxenford

Once again I find myself kicking off the new year with commissions at Oxenford State School. This time around I took on an almost 50m long awning of the Administration building and worked some magic on the tuck shop. There were a number of contractors onsite through the holiday period and it’s great to be a part of new works. Capturing some of the native flora was fitting as just over a year ago a bunch of eucalyptus were destroyed on school grounds in a tornado. The gardens are growing back and the fauna is singing. It’s always a pleasure working in conjunction with fabulous school staff and P&C.

Burleigh Heads

I really enjoyed working with Lifeline to create a visual merchandising backdrop for the Burleigh Heads store. With the artwork to serve as backdrop I originally envisaged a more abstract design but the client provided some references I was happy to work with a cartoon style approach & it turned out great. Its not everyday I get to paint alongside a red headed roller skating mannequin but I guess were both doing our jobs, to get customers in the door.

Madison on High Street

Earlier this year I was contacted by the team at Hamilton Hayes Henderson architects to create a mural on an upcoming project. The brief was to reference the history of the site as the apartment building is located where the original Southport railway station operated until 1964. I explored a few options through the concept development stage and came up with a mandala inspired design as my recommended option. After some minor refinements approval was granted and its was time to get cracking. I tried to harness the energy from the jackhammering, concrete cutting and earthshaking machinery operating nearby. At times I could barely hear myself think on the construction site but the contractors were very accommodating and great to work alongside. This was an exciting project to be involved with as only a few times in my career has a client built a wall with a mural in mind.
