XIX LXIX by Sauce illuminates the possibilities of the space-time continuum, which as humans, we experience without consciousness. Earth is paradoxical by being both monumental and insignificant. Humanity is constantly seeking physical answers to metaphysical questions which creates barriers and restraints on our own freedom.

Sauce was thrilled to (finally) finish this mural in Brisbane this week. He created the mural over two days in the hot Brisbane sun, at a school in Mt. Gravatt. The principal graciously allowed Sauce to create this design at the school, as it was a challenge to find somewhere which suited the layout of this mural. If you’re thinking this image is familiar, then you’re right. This picture features as one of our postcard designs

The Sauce Studio gets a Workout

Lately we’ve had to juggle numerous projects around and do the project shuffle to try and keep all of our lovely and patient clients happy. 

This left Sauce with some unexpected downtime in the studio, so he made the most of it by getting stuck into some new canvas work. He even finished a commission for a friend’s anniversary.

Calvary Christian College Arts Fest 2014

Last week, Sauce visited Calvary Christian College for the fifth year in a row for the school’s ArtsFest. Sauce has been a regular feature as the Artist in Residence, where he creates murals for the school, facilitates workshops with the high school students and runs lunchtime demonstrations for the wider school community.

Crystal Creek Public School

During the September school holidays, we had a visit from some dedicated P&C members at Crystal Creek Public School who decided they needed a mural for their new art studio. The timing was just right, and Sauce managed to fit this project in-between creating other murals and projects which are in various stages of completion. 

This mural was created off-site on MDF boards and fastened to the interior of the newly created studio. This method of application is a great way to add colour to an interior space and stay within budget. It also provides flexibility with time, as Sauce can create the artwork in his studio and minimise on-site disruptions and inconveniences. The best part of the job, besides the organised and friendly P&C members, was the location! Since Crystal Creek is only a stones throw from the studio in Murwillumbah, there was no traffic and no early mornings which was a win for everyone!

Welcome to Caba

 

Last Saturday Destination Tweed held their annual event Tweed Fusion, which promotes arts and culture in the Tweed. As a part of the celebrations, we joined the cool crew at Caba Creative at Norries Headland for some aerosol art demonstrations where Sauce painted a mural on the amenities block. Cabarita is an amazing beach, and it was the perfect day for markets, live music and interactive art. We met some great people, and hope to work with the community again in the future. 

Snail Racer V2

The Snail Racing Van received a re-vamp when a Sydney mate Jugs, said he needed some time out to get away from the city and breathe some fresh air. Sauce had plenty of paperwork and designs to keep him busy, but he still managed to get out for a paint or two while Jugs was in town.

Moorooka Jam

For a professional artist, finding the time to go for a paint can be a real challenge. Especially when there are many clients waiting for their works to be completed, but Sauce managed to squeeze a sneaky join up with Kosie1 last week. Sauce and Kosie1 have a ritual of painting on or around their collective birthdays in January, and they always plan to get together during the year and paint more, but with both lads juggling numerous jobs, it’s tricky to get them both to have time off! 

For this wall, Kosie1 had some overseas guests who were studying photography, so they sharpened their camera skills while Sauce and Kosie1 painted.

Sauce is currently working on the chrome effect with his pieces, and Kosie1 is sharpening his can control and colour combos.

Hit Wall Project

In the lead up to the Multicultural festival, Sauce facilitated a series of workshops with the young people of Emerald. This hit wall was at the local tennis club in Emerald, so with the help of the young people, Sauce created a mural with design elements to suit the use and the location.

The stencil art workshops were also customised, as there were two different groups of participants. For the yellow side, the participants were 12-16 years old, which meant the mural was more stencil based and Sauce needed to complete the finer details of the design. On the blue side of the wall, the participants were 16 +. The older age bracket allowed for an intricate design with more details and a complex theme. 

Again, with these types of projects, it’s not possible to run programs without the fantastic support from dedicated community workers, so a massive thanks goes to the Emerald office of Anglicare CQ.

Emerald Aquatic Centre

The Emerald Aquatic Centre was the first gig Sauce had waiting for him in Emerald, and he was there for six days completing the cartoon murals for the children’s area. Sauce met the manager of the centre on his previous trip to Central Queensland, as the manager was looking for something to smarten the place up before the busy summer season. 

The manager was so impressed with the children’s area, he commissioned Sauce to paint an entrance mural too.
